to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
I didn't realize how much I needed this prayer these last 5 days, but I have more than ever. Donnie, thank you for reminding me to pray this prayer. We all face challenges and go through things that we'd rather not, but we always get through them.
Side note: This post is mainly so I can get a bunch of jumbled thoughts out of my head.
Lately it seems that if something can go wrong it will. I chalk most of it up to the fact that deployment stinks, and everything is harder without your hubby around to help.
For example, my kids were exposed to lice 5 days ago. Since then I have done more loads of laundry than I can count, vacuumed the carpet (multiple times), vacuumed beds and couches, sanitized toys, washed stuffed animals and dress up clothes and doll clothes, sanitized pillows, and I put about anything else that they possibly could have come in contact with in a XXL Ziploc baggy to be sealed up for 2 weeks to kill anything else. Oh and treated 3 little head for lice, just in case. Thankfully, my house is cleaner than it ever has been and there hasn't been any sign of lice in this house! Lets pray it stays that way.
Toady's fun adventure was a trip to Walmart to get groceries with all three kids. A task that I WILL NOT be doing again once the school year starts! All in all the trip wasn't too bad, and a nice lady even complimented me on how well my 3 children were behaving. That is probably because I had already threatened to take away bike riding later that evening if they didn't shape up! Of course, about an hour ago I just realized we made it home without one of our bags. Ugg! Back to Walmart again tomorrow!
Thankfully nothing I needed to make this delicious dinner was in the bag that got left at the store.

I know that I can not change the fact that Donnie is in Afghanistan. I am so very thankful that he is safe (today) and that we can communicate with each other on a daily basis. Nothing hurts your heart more than knowing you can't do anything to make things better for one another when you are so far apart. I am lucky that I can still hug and kiss our kids (this always makes me feel better), but all I am left to offer Donnie is an ear to listen to what little he can tell me and some words of encouragement. I pray that is enough. This is the closest I can get to a hug for you for now...I love you!

That meal looks delicious! And I think the hug you sent Donnie is the sweetest...that is the best thing you can do to make a difference. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteOh, Amy- this post had me in tears! I took a break from packing to check out your blog to see if Jacquiline had made any changes yet and was so touched by this post! I love the hug you sent Donnie and I know it has to be SO hard to be apart. I will pray that you do not get lice and I will continue to pray for Donnie's safety and a happy and sweet reunion for your darling family! PS- thank you for your post about the circle of moms contest! That was so kind! PSS- your black bean tostados looked AMAZING!!!!! Glad to see those TX roots still resurfacing! xxoo
