Winter Concert!

The West Point Elementary School puts on a Winter Concert every year and this year was no exception! This year's theme was Holidays Around The World. Each grade level sings songs that celebrate different holiday traditions. Katie's 1st grade class sang Cancion De La Navidad, O, Come Little Children, & Festival of Lights. It was a really cute performance by the kids!!! Katie was so cute singing on stage!



By the end of the program this is what the boys were doing...

It's Snowing!!!

Our first real snow of the season!!! I had to run outside before bed and take a picture of the house all lit up with the snow coming down! We only got about 2 inches, but it was still something for the kids to get excited about when they woke up the next morning and looked out the window to see the ground covered in blanket of white snow!!! Too bad they didn't even get a 2 hour delay that morning to play in it! John & Luke made the most of it after preschool! They HAD to get the sleds out! Never mind that there really wasn't enough snow for sledding! It didn't stop them from playing outside in the below freezing temps! The boys sled in the front yard and John pulled Luke around on the sled until I MADE them come inside to warm up!

John's Pre-K class celebrated the holidays with a New Year's Eve Party!!! We sang songs and counted down to midnight to begin our New Year's celebration! All the kids threw confetti into the air....John anxiously awaiting to toss up his handfuls of confetti...
Then it was time for a midnight snack!

Fort Drum, NY...

After much anticipation about where our next duty station would be...it looks like the Army is sending us to Fort Drum, NY. So much for Hawaii, Fort Stewart, Georgia, or even Fort Bragg, North Carolina...all of which would have met my requirement of warmer weather and wouldn't have had a NY winter! But, as the saying goes...Home is where they Army sends you!!! Donnie will be joining the 91st MP BN at Fort Drum this summer, and will be deploying to Iraq sometime next year or at least that is the plan for now. I have to say that other than the winter weather and Donnie's deployment, I am really looking forward to moving to Fort Drum. I have heard nothing but great things about this post and the wonderful people there. I have even already received a welcoming email from the Battalion Commander's wife. When I mentioned to her that the kids were excited that Fort Drum gets more snow that West Point, she sent the picture above...taken right out of her front door several weeks ago. They have at least another foot on the ground since this picture was taken, and she said once it starts snowing, it never melts, it just keeps piling up, and up, and up!!! Guess we better hold onto the snow gear another few years!

Happy Birthday Donnie!

We celebrated Donnie's birthday by enjoying some yummy fried food in his new fryer! Something he has been wanting forever!!! And I finally decided to buy, because it is getting too cold to grill out! And I must admit it was delicious and we fried up anything in the house you could thing of...except his birthday brownies! And those probably would have been yummy too! I was a bad mom and didn't get any pictures of our birthday celebration...so I thought what better than to include a picture of Donnie doing a few of the things he LOVES to do...goof around and grill out! Too bad you can't see the Superman emblem on his t-shirt! I am sure that is who he is trying to impersonate in this picture! But, one things for sure he is a Super Hero to Katie, John & Luke!!! Thanks you for being a wonderful husband and a great dad! You keep us all smiling!

BS&L Holiday Party...

Santa made an appearance at Donnie's work Christmas Party! John & Luke were not too sure about this Santa, but they were willing to take a quick picture if Mom & Dad jumped in too!

Christmas Spectacular...

...NYC is beautiful all lit up for the holidays!!! What a perfect start to December! A girls night in the city...we started our evening off with a delicious dinner at Bobby Flay's Bar Americain.

We made sure we had enough time to get some Rockette cupcakes to take home and to get in some NYC holiday sightseeing...

Me, Kate & Brooke...funny how hard we tried to get a great picture of the 3 of us, and after asking several different people to take our picture...the best picture of the night was the one we took ourselves! LOVE it!

The entire show was AMAZING! I seriously LOVED every minute! I only wish that I could go back and take the kids because they would have LOVED it too! Someday...because it is something everyone should see at least once!
