West Point Graduation

West Point has many traditions that we have been able to experience in our three years here. One of the most adorable graduation traditions that the kids have been looking forward is the cadet hat toss. This tradition dates back to 1946, the newly minted Army officers throw off their white hats as the kids sprint across the football field to grab a cadet hat. Most of the cadets put little notes or some $ money in the hats for the kids!

Being at West Point for graduation always reminds me of my first visit to West Point 13 years ago for Donnie's graduation. I love that Donnie's time in the Army has brought us back to make new memories here with our children!

Katie, John, & Luke all managed to grab a hat! I don't think I can begin to describe the madness that surrounds the hat toss! It is crazy! We did lose John for a while, but thankfully we found him once the crowds cleared out a bit! He even got a little shiner on his check trying to get a hat! But it was all worth it for a cadet hat!
